From the album Better Days
As told by Gerry Schultz: The comparison to Willie Nelson's classic is deliberate. First, I think it's great work by Al, and I can be a little competitive. But mostly, it was a chance to do something like Aerosmith had done with 'Back In The Saddle ', which was their answer to the Gene Autry classic. Once I got into the vibe of the traveling song, the lyrics came quickly. One of my favorites from the record.
On The Road Again
V1: On the road again, enjoying the feeling
Wheels roll, scenery just like a movie
On a sunshine high, bright blue sky, and I’m groovin’
Gonna wake up somewhere else in the morning
C: Oh yeah, I’m On The Road Again
And I ain’t got a care in the world
Yeah, I’m leavin’ my troubles behind
Just like the little white lines in my rear view mirror, yeah
Ain’t got no cares… wish you were here
C’mon… jump in
V2: On the road again, got the radio smokin’
Wheels roll, and my eyes are movin’
The trip’s been okay, except for the giant bats
Diving at me, dude, did you see that?
Hey, buckle up now
Because the band’s gonna come pick you up
Yeah, you and I, we’re going places tonight
Gonna hit the road and just drive
Yeah, who’s ready for a ride?
